Virtual / Online Lessons for Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba

Music lessons via Skype or Zoom became popular in 2020, but I have been teaching in this manner way before it was necessary. Rest assured that no aspect of your learning experience is left behind.

By far the most common concern I hear is about how virtual lessons will negatively impact the student’s learning experience. With brass playing things are much easier than, say, for piano lessons, since we do not need to aim the camera down to a keyboard or arrange any fancy setups.

Let me ease your worries and tell you everything that I can and have been doing virtually since 2014.

With virtual music lessons you can learn everything you can learn with in-person lessons…

  • Absolute beginners can learn how to hold the instrument and read sheet music easily.

  • Embouchure changes are no problem either!

  • Intermediate and advanced students can learn more difficult techniques.

  • We can practice sight-reading, watch videos together and even learn music theory with screen sharing.

  • I will control the student’s rhythmic skills with the use of a metronome. This way if audio lags happen they will not affect what I hear.

  • Computers and laptops these days come equipped with good cameras and microphone so you do not need to spend tons of money on a new microphone. I of course will use a top of the line microphone and camera setup so that you can experience lessons with the highest possible production value.

  • Keep going below to learn about how convenient online lessons are.

More benefits of online and virtual lessons…

  • Distance is no longer an issue! You can study with someone qualified and experienced.

  • No commuting. Woo!

  • Bad weather? No problem! You don’t have to miss your lesson.

  • If you are running late, there is no need to fight traffic. Hop on the computer and you are on time.

  • You can record your lesson for later reference.

You will need...

  • A desktop computer, laptop or tablet.

  • A reliable internet connection, this is generally not an issue anymore.

  • Skype, Zoom or Google Hangout.

  • Web cam and microphone which are likely already equipped on your device.

Still on the fence? You first lesson is complimentary! To this day not one person has been disappointed with my virtual music lessons!

I’ve been taking lessons on trombone with Jacquelene for 6 months now (on skype). She’s very encouraging, corrects your mistakes without being negative, and i’m very happy that I chose Jackie as my music teacher. I look forward to our weekly lessons because I never thought I could learn to play a musical instrument, but with Jackie’s instruction, i have learned to read and play notes and songs I never thought possible. Thank you so much Jackie!
